Legacy Data Access

Version 1.0 — 17 June 2005

This document details the options for accessing legacy system information after each Banner installation.  The document is only meant to be a guideline for retrieving legacy information and does not include all viable possibilities.

I.         Legacy system access post Banner

1.               Enterprise Systems - changed to READ-ONLY after “go live” date.  Access will be limited to specific end-users for a limited time period.

2.               Data Warehouse (referred now as Operational Data Store) – preserve last day snapshots after Enterprise System changed to read-only.  Access will be limited to specific end-users who require access to the data.

II.        Options for additional data requirements after “go live” date

1.         Create new Operation Data Store extract.  Feasibility of a requested extract will be determined on an individual project basis.

2.         Archive manually to a storage medium (not E-Print).  Examples include copying data to a CD.

3.         Create a new job with output saved to E-Print.

4.         Use Imaging to capture data.

III.      E-Print issues under Banner

            1.         Currently at 72% capacity and not sized as an archival solution.  Do we re-size?

2.         Currently have one test and one production server for SCT Plus.  Under Banner we will require a Banner E-Print production environment.  Do we purchase another server for the Banner production environment?

3.         E-Print hardware is aging.  Plans are in place to replace the hardware.
